About the Ensemble

ensembleTHE JULIANI ENSEMBLE has been a regular performing partner at the Chicago Cultural Center since 2000, presenting innovative, world-class concerts, and a live performance on WFMT radio. The Ensemble has remained unique because it expands and contracts its membership as necessary to meet the needs of programming. However, the core of the ensemble is Emily Seaberry Graef, founder and flutist, Frank Babbitt, violin, viola, and baritone, Cornelia Babbitt, cello, Jo Rodenburg, mezzo-soprano and Roger Moseley, piano. The Juliani Ensemble is currently initiating chamber music education programs with schools in the Chicago area.

THE JULIANI BAROQUE ENSEMBLE under the direction of Richard Graef, plays Baroque music on original instruments. The Ensemble has performed several times on the Classical Monday series at the Chicago Cultural Center in Preston Bradley Hall. Consisting of a core group of baroque flute, harpsichord and viola da gamba, the ensemble can expand incorporating baroque violin and period guitars. In 2008, they were guest artists on the Segovia Guitar Series at Northwestern University.

JULIANI JUNIOR is a venue for talented young musicians to explore the joys of chamber music under the coaching and tutelage of members of The Juliani Ensemble. The chamber groups are arranged according to age and level of advancement. Many of the members also sign up for individual private lessons on their instrument with a Juliani member of their choice. Some youth ensembles perform in recital and others enter the esteemed Fischoff Youth Competition in addition to recital performances, all of which are recorded live. The Ensemble also plans to expand it's educational outreach into schools where the current music program can support theJuliani Junior model. For a Juliani Junior audition, school inquiries or to request private lessons, contact Emily Graef.
